India’s finished steel exports in the first quarter increased by 26%

According to foreign media reports on April 28, strong steel demand in European countries drove India's exports of finished steel in the first quarter to increase by 26% year-on-year to 2.47 million tons.

The Indian Iron and Steel Ministry pointed out that in March, India's finished steel exports to Belgium, Italy, and Spain maintained an upward trend, while exports to Nepal, the UAE and Vietnam showed a downward trend.

In March, India's finished steel exports to Italy accounted for 22% of its total exports, and its exports to Belgium accounted for 16% of its total exports.

It is reported that most of the finished steel exported by India in March was hot-rolled coils, totaling 676,200 tons, more than twice the amount in the same period in 2020.
