Iran’s crude steel production increased by 10.2% in the first half of the year

The latest data released by the World Steel Association (WSA) shows that in the first half of this year, Iran’s crude steel output was 13.89 million tons, an increase of 10.2% over the same period last year.

Iran is one of the tenth largest crude steel producers in the world. Data show that in June 2020, Iran’s crude steel output was 2.43 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%.

In the first half of 2020, the total crude steel output of 62 producing countries in the world was 873 million tons, down 6% year-on-year.

According to data from the Iranian Iron and Steel Producers Association (ISPA), in the first three months of this fiscal year (March 20-June 20), Iran’s semi-finished steel output was 7.14 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3%; finished steel output was 5.33 million Tons, an increase of 1% year-on-year.

The output of flat steel was 2.67 million tons and that of long steel was 2.66 million tons. During the same period, Iran’s hot-rolled steel coil and cold-rolled steel coil output were 2.3 million tons and 655,000 tons, respectively, up 1% year-on-year.
