Pakistani steel plants are eager to resume production

Pakistan "Dawn" reported on April 8: Since the outbreak of the Covid-19, Pakistani steel plants have suspended production and operations. Last month, Prime Minister Imran announced a rescue plan for steel plants. Recently, Pakistani steel plants called for the resumption of production as soon as possible.

The Secretary General of the Pakistan Association of Large Steel Manufacturers stated that steel is the backbone of Pakistan’s construction industry. Pakistan’s economy cannot withstand the consequences of the long-term closure of steel plants. Any delay in resuming production will result in the failure of the government’s plan to revitalize the construction industry, and bring adverse effects to economy. It is hoped that the government will immediately resume production in steel enterprises, especially those that have the conditions to provide shelter for workers.
