Russia’s energy consumption is expected to drop by 20% in 2020

According to a recent report by Russia’s "Коммерсантъ", Russian Deputy Energy Minister Grabchak said in an interview that due to the spread of Covid-19, Russia’s quarantine and quarantine measures have been continuously strengthened, and domestic energy consumption is declining.

According to the forecast of the Russian Ministry of Energy, Russia's energy demand this year is expected to decrease by 3.6%-10%, and depending on the duration of the quarantine measures, consumer energy consumption may be reduced by 15%-20%.

Data shows that in the first quarter of this year, Russia's energy consumption fell by 0.3% year-on-year, while demand was previously expected to increase by 1.8%.
